I am a lecturer in Media Theory, Human–Machine Interaction and Interface Design at the University of Tours, France.
I have a PhD in Media Semiotics and Information and Communication Sciences, jointly awarded by Université Paris 8 and the University of Turin. My doctoral research focused on immersive user experiences enabled by extended reality media (VR and AR) and algorithmically driven platforms, such as social networking sites. Drawing on perspectives from phenomenology, cognitive psychology, and media criticism, I investigated techno-deterministic theories of immersion as they are articulated in scientific and cultural discourses.
In the following years, I continued my research in interface semiotics, particularly in relation to immersive and playful media, exploring creative, religious, and activist practices of digital design.
I've also worked in the fields of cultural studies and science and technology studies, in particular on the socio-technical imaginary of the metaverse.
In 2023, I started working on a project on playful forms of human-AI interactions.
